The Passion

Location: Gola - Easter Wall
Grade: HVS  -
Length: 10m
First ascent: J Read, E Ross (april 2011)

The leftward trending crack above the step down to the lower wall.Hard step across to the right of the 'V' crack to finish

Photo of Route
Gola Island, Easter Wall - Gola Island, North West side of Mweelmore, opposite Torglass. 15-20 min dander from the campsite.

Well away from high seas with a good selection of routes from VDiff-E2. A nice alternative to the inland crag and some very obvious lines, scary high balls and good surrounding bouldering left for the next visitor.

Climber on FA of Trinity probably E1 5c? (1 fall and pad used to protect first moves so a clean on sight awaits)

WOuld love to have tried the crack on the right but it was soaking that day. HVS seems a solid grade for this route. The crack left of 6 was tried (but not led clean - only toproped - a bit wet) Best explained by this animation of a certain Swiss man. i39.tinypic.com/10giamp.jpg

Can't help but spy: Crack in wall to left of 6 and the crack and breaks on right of 6 looks a good challenge! Don't forget to post your new routes and keep the comments coming. Good pic, by the way.

Cheers Ronan, It's no 6 in this topo, I definitely took a small step to the right to use that crack on the right hand side of the 'V'. Do you agree with the grade? Don’t suppose you tried the vertical crack on the right, I was saveing that for the next trip ;)?

Good route at a solid grade. Dropped my nuts near the top and nearly paniced until I found a solid cam placement! The "Hard step across to the right of the 'V' crack to finish" is misleading - it felt better to finish direct and I couldn't really see where you could go out right.
