Agreed with Alek. Maybe E1 5a as its a pumpy little number. I would say the crux is about 5a (gaining the break above the thin crack) followed by some spiky gola jams

It is a very good climb but I'd go so far as to say that it is HVS/E1 5a because there are no one hard moves and it is short. However, it is sustained, so it might be an E1.

Climbed this over the weekend, one hard move possibly 5a, well protected throughout.

Kevin Kilroy - 10/06/2010
Did this over the weekend. I'd say low in the grade E1 with a 5b crux, not 5c. Well protected.

Peter, I forgot my shovel... Shame on me. Might I add that the light breeze (enough to keep off the midges) and endless sunshine were some consilation for the time spent climbing on Gola without my usually trusty shovel. Seriously though, have you any plan of attack for the green fur that blights Dunmore Head at Culdaff? Don't think my shovel would be of much use on it.

Eh, I enjoyed the bit I climbed...I fled for the sanctuary of the broken chimney like a wimp after the top of the vertical crack.lol The horizontal brake above the climbers head was banked out with weeds which weren't easily plucked out one handed.

Kevin, are you trying to tell me you went all the way to Gola and could'nt spend 5 hours cleaning routes? You've a score to settle there!

Peter Cooper - 10/06/2009
Did you enjoy the routes, are the weeds now gone?

Kevin Kilroy - 08/06/2009
Heavily vegitated (June 2009) And another one bits the weeds

vs 4c?

Pete Smith - 01/08/2008
If you're going to downgrade an E1 to VS, that's grand, but you could at least tell us who you are.
