MI Agm weekend |
Date: 10th March 2012 Submitted by: Alan Tees The weekend’s activities in Clonmel started with a slide show by IMC of their recent expedition to Greenland, (which got buried in snow) and continued in the bar afterwards until quite late. There were the usual walks next day,in the Comeraghs, but I went climbing with Jack Bergin, Dave Cummings and Sandra to Coumshingaun. We managed a 2 pitch route ‘Ansey’s Desire’ 4c,5a, not bad for the first route of the year, (with a rucsac and cold hands), tho’ Jack led both pitches (well it was his route, and a very fine one too!) The AGM saw me deposed (a bloodless coup) and dinner afterwards finished for some at 4.00 AM. Sunday, we went to a rock climbing slide show about the SW and elsewhere, and then off to the Galtees to an unclimbed (by us) 600m hump, followed by a long drive to meet up with Mal Saunders in Nevin's pub outside Newport Co. Mayo. We stayed in his cottage nearby, and then did a 9 hour trog/slop/slither over the very wet, very rough, very big, Nephinbeg mts. Had a quick bite in Nevins, which was excellent, and then home. 15 Mar 2012 It's been a great for the CCC to have Alan as President of Ireland's main body for climbers', walkers' and mountaineers; internationally and within Donegal. A job well done, Alan. What's next for you and which Colmciller will be next to lead MI? 22 Mar 2012 Could I show my ignorance and nosiness? Could you quickly explain who the folks are that you got to climb/meet up with? |
