Fairhead in the Wet |
Date: 27th January 2007 Submitted by: Anthony Feeney George and I took a trip to Fairhead on a blustery overcast day in the vain hope that there might be some dry rock. There wasn't. We met our old enemies, wet rock and lichen. George backed off an S having placed 2 bits of gear, it was just too slippy to get any purchase in the crack. Rather than go home we set up a top rope on a VS and clambered up it, with our feet threatening to slip constantly. You don't get fear like that on the wall! Gave it up as a bad job after that but the cobwebs were well and truly blown away. |
