Mournes Meet: Lasses sans Lassitude

Date: 27th/28th August
Submitted by: mmk

Saturday saw four Lasses hit a damp windy Bearnagh Slabs. A slow but cheerful progression was made up Hypothesis with all four linked learning a lot about rope management. We then retired to Forest View Buttress for some chilly cragging.

Numbers doubled on Sunday at the Carricklittle Car Park. Mutterings of coffee in Newcastle were ignored as a large group of climbers from Manchester were heading off with intent and we had to show willing.

Half opted for FM, the regular downpours promised to make it more interesting.  Les treated Catherine to her first FM ascent and Cliona completed her first FM lead.  We then finished off on North Wall on Lower Cove.  Rumour has it some spent the day sheltering in the Cave, but we all had a great 2 days entertainment Mournes style.

There wasn’t a lot of camping..

I admire your determination Maeve! I only got out on the Sunday and gave in when I saw the sea spray was coming over the top of the crag

Sans lassitude indeed! Glad to hear Catherine made it to the Mournes. I went to malin and got nothing done as too wet and windy!
