Strabane Glen |
Date: 19/06/13 Submitted by: Alan Tees Marty and I did a mid week sortie up the glen. The path is very cut up and muddy at present (maybe used for pony trekking) so walking boots or wellies advisable, and the vegetation was full on, but we managed " Sunset Boulevard" a fine severe, described by Marty as "A wee jem" and then Marty led " Rigor Mortis" MVS ( probably a bit harder than that) a very strenuous athletic first pitch, but well protected. I led the second pitch, a wall, about 4a (more my standard nowadays). Probably last climbed in 1982, when the Glen closed to climbers. Mr Cummings, the owner confirmed we are welcome to climb there now. These are great routes which compare favourably with anything in Donegal. I kid you not! 22 Jun 2013 Alan - is it worth goin in there for a clean up - could it be used for any kind of training etc. Im only 5mins from the glen 24 Jun 2013 It is possible that we could completely renovate one of the crags, subject to permission of the owner. We could meet up, do a route, and look at what would be involved. |

Must be marvellous to have retired and spend all your time climbing in exotic locations.
