Plan B

Date: 18th-21st May
Submitted by: Alan Tees

Maggs and I availed last minute of a spare seat in Keith & Sandra's car to Glencoe.  In the event, the weather forecast was (predictably) appalling, so we headed  East, where the met said it might be better.  We were joined by Bonny and camped at the big site by the lake just outside Aviemore.  Saturday was showery, but we slogged in from Glen Feshie to Sgurr Gaoith (or something).  It was miserable on top, but we found a good spot to have lunch, and this looks like it would be a fine mountain from the other side.  Back in time to book mountain bikes for Sunday!  The next morning we were away at nine, and biked on fine paths up to Lough Einach (2 hours), dumped the bikes, and climbed Cairn Toul, Angels Peak, and Braeraich (7.5 hours) + another two hours of raw arse biking back to the campsite.  Big Day! but weather improved as it went on.  Monday saw Keith and I making the walk in to Corrie An Lochan, more in hope than expectation, to look at "Savage Slit" the classic V.Diff corner (now Severe apparently).  The weather stayed dry, and it was just short of the snow, so we got up it, despite our freezing hands.  A long and treacherous descent was made to avoid having to cross steep snow fields in our rock boots.  Sandra, Margaret, and Bonny went up Cairngorm the hard way (On foot!)
