Firstly, please ignore my smartarse quip in the last report "Lakes". Having just read Anthony's account of their adventure/ ordeal, I am ashamed of myself! Mind you, sometimes the biggest misadventures are in retrospect the most memorable, and educational, experiences eg the Poisoned Glen abseil for myself. On a lighter note I would recommend the Apuan Alps for a great mountaineering and coastal and cultural destination. Great marble mountains, bolted rock cl;imbing, lovely deciduous woods, a via ferrata or two, lovely beaches, Florence, Sienna and cheap flights to Pisa. And of course wine! Will post some photos.
