Knoydart

Date: 11th-15th May
Submitted by: Alan Tees

Eight of us chartered a boat from Mallaig to Camusrory to camp for three days and do some of the most remote mountains in Scotland, including Sgurr na Ciche, a very pointy summit, which has been on my hit list for years.  The remoteness of our campsite was somewhat affected by the "Ultimate Challenge" (mountain walk across Scotland) which had considerable numbers of people trooping past.  Anyway we knocked off a few mountains with names that I cant spell, before backpacking over a 2000 foot pass to Inverie, the only village in the area(and which is not connected by road), where we had a few pints, a meal, and endless hours removing ticks (cartyins in Donegal). and got a boat back out the next day. Knoydart is simply magnificent, and blew everybody away, as I knew it would.
