| Date: May 09 Submitted by: Alan Tees Report on Scottish trip May 2009 9/05 Drove to Arisaig and camped. 10/05 Did Ross Beinn horseshoe, 3 corbetts, 7 hours. Beautiful weather. 11/05 Boat from Mallaig to Isle of Rhum, stayed Kinloch Castle bunhhouse 12/05 Did traverse of Rhum Cuillin, to Dibidil Bothy and out. Mighty! 11 hours. 13/05 Visited Isle of Canna, and back to Mallaig, drove to Fiunary and camped. 14/05 Crossed to Mull and climbed Benmore, the only Island Munroe outside Skye, and An Coich, camped Tobermory. 15/05 Visited Iona. 16/05 Crossed to Ardnamurchan, and drove to Strontian. First rain!! Camped. 17/05 Climbed Gars Beinn, Ardgour, a dramatic rocky peak with some great climbs on it, and on to Ft William. Met the IMC. 18/05 Left Margaret to the Cluanie Inn to start her three day back pack, and returned to Ft William. Walked up to the CIC hut in the afternoon to join the IMC guys. Wet! Hut quite comfy and great craic! 19/05 Did Castle Ridge, over the Ben and down the CMD arête to CMD! And hut! Weather dodgy with heavy showers. Castle Ridge mostly easy but a couple of VDiff bits. 20/05 Had a look around the Corrie Leis and descended, as weather poor. CIC hut no place to be in bad weather. Drove to Ratagan Hostel to Meet M. Stayed hostel. 21/05 Back to Ft William to meet Brian Ringland. Weather still wet. Camped Glen Nevis 22/05 Did two hills beside the Grey Corries called Cruach Inchee and Sgurr Inchee with Brian and M. Nice day, and second mountain had loads of climbable rock. Drove to Inverness to meet Jimmy and Mairi 23/05 Watched Leinster win the Heinaken cup (with hen party from Aberdeen). 24/05 Home. |
