Girls on the Cioch

Sandra K and I headed out of Glen Brittle and made for the north face of Sron na Ciche were the infamous Cioch is located. As we approached our goal the sun came out and the skies turned blue. In the last three years I have spent 11 days in Skye, 10 have been sunny. Not going again as think I have used up all my brownie points!

We made our way round Collies Traverse which led us to the base of the Cioch Slab; the Cioch stone is at the top right hand corner of this huge slab. We ascended the slab via Arrow Route, a VDiff 3 star; the guide book warning us not to be fooled by the easy grading and to be aware of the severe lack of gear. Sandra took the first pitch and then I took the second. Lack of gear is an understatement but the rock is superb and this climb is worthy of the 3 stars.

From the top of Arrow Route it was a short bum smear and an easy climb to the top. Must say thanks to John for letting us use his protection on this last bit. (No hair flicking or coo cooing done! Not by me anyway, can’t speak for Kennedy.) I was too busy looking for Sean Connery and his sword. Who wants to live forever anyway! (Highlander for those who don’t know.)

Great trip, great company, great craic!

Way I heard it, it was like a couple of teenagers backstage at a Kings Of Leon gig. Not that Keith would exaggerate or anything. :)

Kings of Leon i think not, more like giddy 11 year olds at 1st high school disco.
