“Join us for the Mountaineering Ireland Autumn Gathering 2026, taking place in Wicklow from 16–18 October 2026, in conjunction with the Irish Ramblers.

Based at the Woodenbridge Hotel and Lodge in the Vale of Avoca, the weekend offers a great opportunity to get out on the hills, meet other Mountaineering Ireland members, staff and board members and enjoy a varied programme of activities.

The programme includes hillwalking activities and workshops, with a beautiful selections of walks from the Irish Ramblers ranging from easy to difficult.

The weekend begins on Friday evening with a welcome gathering and a special guest speaker, Michael Guilfoyle whom many of you may know from his articles in the Irish Times. He has widely explored Ireland and abroad, and has summited most peaks over 3000m in the Pyrenees and several 4000m peaks in the Alps including Mount Blanc and Gran Paradiso. His talk promises to give everyone a new insight into the mountains of Wicklow.

We are particularly excited to offer a Summiteering Workshop on the Sunday, an opportunity to learn more about planning and undertaking challenges.

The subsidised registration fee is €60, which includes the programme of activities, talks and workshops, Saturday evening dinner, a gift and buses where required. There is also a €35 registration option without the Saturday evening dinner.

A number of rooms have been booked for the Gathering at the hotel at a special rate.  Please let the hotel know you are with the Mountaineering Ireland Autumn Gathering at the time of booking to avail of the special rate: Reference number is GA000572. Rates are: €187.50 per person sharing in the Lodge and €207.50 in the main Hotel for 2 nights B&B. Single occupancy supplement is €50 per night.

We would really encourage clubs to share this event with your members and encourage them to attend. It is a great opportunity to meet members from other clubs, try something different and be part of the wider Mountaineering Ireland community.
