Gully of the Gods. (An Port)

Route Description:

Grid Reference G546896. On the headland facing the monsterous landward face of Toralaydan Island, there sits a gully running full cliff height. The gully is the only way down the surrounding cliffs to access the island and is a very serious undertaking. Climbed from sea level in pitches of 20, 45, 45, 50, 20 metres to the cliff tops using excavated boulders as belays. The location and atmosphere are considerable! :-) Gully marked with a very discrete summit cairn.

There are two gullies facing Torylayden Island. This route climbs the northern one, the first 60mts up from the beach has two vertical sections and is very dangerous. The southern gully approx 30m South has had a massive land slide(lately) and is still active. Went half way down this gully on a recce and it's still moving! :-(

Eh! I scrambled down this several times years ago. Has there been a land slip? The landward face of Torylayden is also straightforward. Wind up?
