Gilpin's Groove

Location: Croc an affrain
Grade: D
Length: 5m
First ascent: M.W.Holland, J.Gilpin, J.Sinclair, J.Purcell 22/09/07
Route Description:
Approximately 4m left of "Daddy Fox" (assuming Daddy Fox to be the obvious vegetated corner or right around the arete from "Boulder One"). A flake crack was followed up the left hand side of the wall to finish through an obvious 'V' notch/groove in the crag top. Pleasant climbing using the crack and edges.

Alas I think this is 'Daddy Fox',the desription fits. The guidebook has 'DF' as being 5M right of gulley, it's actually 15M r. of gulley; as on-line guide now points out. 2 lines I've done aren't new lines due to that error!

Peter, Unfortunately I'm not local, I'd love to be. We were across from Scotland staying at a friends place in Port Salon. If we're across again, I'll post an e:mail as it it'd be great to get a bunch of folk up there and meet up with some of the locals. Wilf.

Next guide book will be faultless, like all guidebooks (a wee joke there) and it'll have this route in it. Alan noted that he didn't think DF went through a V-notch. Are you local-ish? If your'e in the area or visiting post an e-mail via the secretary and all CCrs will receive.

Yeah I was struggling a bit with the descriptions, but don't think it was Daddy Fox as it definitely wasn't Severe 4a. Gave it Diff, may be V Diff at most. Looking at the topo on hear it appears to between lines I and J.
