Smoke on the water * *

Location: Croc an affrain
Grade: E2  6a
Length: 20m
First ascent: K McGee, P Tinney 16/10/10
Route Description:
Start up the thin vertical crack on the left of the slab and climb directly to the overlap. Use a cluster of crystals high on the right to gain a small hold above the overlap. Move across to the left edge and place a good .3cam(awkward)and then make a few more difficult moves to gain good holds and a spike for a sling. Move out right on to the face and continue to the top.

Great climbing in this route, moves before and after the overlap are superb with the cluster of crysals providing an amazing hold. Grade felt about E2 6a maybe touching E3. ** route. Another great route on this slab.

We're just guessing the grades. There's plenty bomber gear with only small run outs. The crux is well protected with a size 2RP and then the .3 cam but it has to be placed while in a poor stance. Disco Legs is more sustained but less strenuous with a crux move 4m above gear that would probably rip and then it's an extra metre to the next piece. Maybe 1 star for this and 2 for Disco Legs.

Hey guys, well done! I thought this may have been slightly harder, perhaps your'e on fire or I was being a wuss. I can't make out a whole load of protection in the picture. Any comment to made re stars and comparism with the line you got to the right?
