Red Duster * * *

Location: Dungloon (Kinnego)
Grade: E1  5a
Length: 20m
First ascent: M Manson, D Stelfox (8/80)
Route Description:
Climb wall to reach crack. Layback up crack to reach horizontal break. Climb over the break and then straight up to the top. Beware loose rock near the top.

(Red Duster - Alternative Start 20m 5b)

Climbs the crack just right of the original start. Start on the ledge, and layback up to join the last third of the original route. Harder, but not as good as the original. Incidentally, this superb route has now become harder since losing some holds off the top.

Good route, probably worth two stars. I think the grade is spot on at E1 5a

fantastic route. I would say HVS 5a. Alek, climbing is easier if you climb quicker!

A lovely route. Two stars and HVS 5a I reckon.

Definitely a three star route. Did not find it dusty in the slightest. Clean, logical line with consistent difficulty. Brilliant rock apart from the topout. Would Say the grade is on the soft side of E1, but not quite HVS. 5a is spot on. Would completely agree with Tinney. Sustained for the slow. Grand for he rest of us.

I think it’s a great climb worth a start or two but not sure about 3. The rock was a bit too dusty in places. I thought that E1 up the middle of the crows next is nicer climb.

I think it is pretty good.I always enjoy climbing it.The gear is nicely spaced and is bomber but if you spend too much time placing it, you will get pumped and then the climb gets alot harder. Worth 2 stars at least

Anyone else think this isn't worth 3 stars?
