Greystone Rib

Location: Poisoned Glen (The Castle)

Route Description:
The route takes the rib/pillar of rock left of Green Grass Gully. Starts at the bottom right-hand side of the rib. The first 90m is easy scrambling. Above that a series of corners on the left are climbed.

Agree with Brother Tees a much better route description. We climbed the exposed arete, excellent, alas we continued through the jungle to the top of the Castle, Don't!

This should be HS 4b. Amended route description.

  1. 55m, 3c/4a, Nice climbing up the rib on clean firm granite to balay below steep wall.
  2. Move right, and climb wall left of crack (4b), up heather above, to another, overhanging corner. Traverse left on rocky platform, around the corner, and belay. Climb wet corner (two in situ wires), and either vegetated diedre above, or exposed arete on the left. 4b! Abseil off the back of the rib into Castle Gully.
