I climbed Forked Lighting on Sunday and would say it is easier than Thera. Like Forked Lighting there is loads of good protection but the positions in which to place it are more difficult and the climb is steeper with no really good rest positions. It is alot shorter though.Like Kevin says if it is wet it is much harder. I think it deserves 2 stars I always enjoy climbing it, if only it was 10 meters longer.

There's probably not much between them and both climbs are very well protected. If the crack in Thera is dry the climb isn't too bad but much harder if it's wet and you have to rely on the face holds. F Lightning is still ok even if it's wet.

Someone recently mentioned to me that this is a bit soft at HVS. Seeing as I led it on-sight many years ago, I like to think it's pretty solid at the grade. I think of Forked Lightning as a benchmark VS, and I reckon this is a notch harder. Anyone else have an opinion?

2nd' Geoff T. on this route and whilst a good line and enjoyable didn't feel it merited 3 stars. Definately a 1 star, perhaps a 2 star.

Alan Tees - 13/05/2007
The obvious flake is now gone, and its Geoff Thomas's fault. No change in grade apparently.
