Black Mamba * *

Location: Sea Stacks and Pinnacles
Grade: VS  4c
Length: 22m
First ascent: Iain Miller, Wolfgang Schuessler 23/03/11
Route Description:

As you drive down the Port road you can't help but notice a perfect Black Stack sitting about 500m out to sea, this stack is known locally as "An Staca."

Climb the seaward face direct to a steep corner and pull through the corner with the whole world below your heels.

The sea journey to this stack is very emotional.

Excellent Plinney, what's the details of the Landward arete you climbed? Name of route and troopers involved? :-)

Great climb. Climbed the arête between the light and shadow shown in the picture above too. Steep all the way but not much difference in difficulty. No real gear placements.

Cant be Napes Needle. It looks stunning, isnt horrendously polished and there is no queue.

Hey Iain, that looks good! Is this Donegal's Nape's Needle? It's certainly higher/longer. Any photos to show scale?

A proud beauty.

An outstanding journey into the pounding heart of the ocean.
